What to Expect

  • When your primary care veterinarian has submitted the outpatient request, we will reach out to you directly to schedule the ultrasound service needed.

  • You are able to drop off your pet at 10 AM for their ultrasound service. If you would prefer to wait during your pet's ultrasound scan, please let us know and we can arrange a specific time for you to bring your pet in.

  • We ask that your pet is fasted 12 hours prior to ultrasound to ensure for clear images.

  • We will require a consent form be completed prior to the ultrasound- this covers shaving, and possible sedation and biopsies. You can click HERE to view the form.

  • If you have decided to drop off, we will contact you when your pet is ready for pickup.

  • We will process payment at time of discharge.

  • Your primary veterinarian will receive the report within 24hours, and reach out to you to discuss a treatment plan.

  1. How do I schedule an outpatient ultrasound for my pet?

    Your primary care veterinarian will need to submit an Outpatient case request online with your pet’s pertinent medical history. Once our team reviews and approves the scan request, we will reach out to you directly to schedule the ultrasound service needed.

  2. How does the MiVU Outpatient process work?

    Once our team receives and approves the Outpatient case request that is submitted by your primary veterinarian, we will reach out to you directly to schedule the ultrasound for same or next day. Specific drop off instructions will be given at that time.

    We will call you once the ultrasound exam is complete, and will provide instructions for pick-up. It is likely that your pet will be with us for a couple hours.

  3. Who performs and interprets the ultrasound?

    Dr. Connie Shang, founder and owner of MiVU, will be the primary veterinarian to perform most outpatient ultrasound services. The images will be sent to a board certified radiologist, who will interpret the scan and send us a detailed report of the findings.

  4. When should I expect the results?

    Most reports should be received by your primary care veterinarian within 24hours after the ultrasound is performed.

  5. Who discusses the ultrasound findings with me?

    Our ultrasound report is sent to your primary veterinarian, who will then discuss the findings and treatment plan with you.

  6. How much does the ultrasound cost, and when is payment due?

    Since we have a range of ultrasound services, the costs vary and are dependent on which type(s) of ultrasound are needed. If your primary veterinarian does not have our pricing, please give us a call to request pricing information.

    All fees are to be paid in full at time of discharge.

  7. What if my pet needs sedation and/or biopsies?

    During the ultrasound, our veterinarian may deem sedation necessary for the safety of both your pet and our team. We will gather your consent to administer sedation prior to ultrasound being performed. This consent will either be reported to us by your primary care veterinarian, or we will have you fill out a consent form at the time of your scheduled appointment.

    If sedation is needed for your pet, and consent is not given, we will likely not be able to perform the scheduled ultrasound service.
